New House - Offer Accepted!

Looks like Susan and I will be back on the property ladder sooner than we thought! - Pictured is the house we have agreed to buy.

The process in England is quite different from the Scottish model - with the main point that the house deal is not final until you exchange contracts, normally 4-8 weeks after having your offer accepted. Prior to that either party can back out without commitment - so here's hoping that our vendors do not change their minds for the next few weeks!

The other main difference is that you need to pay up your deposit at the time of exchanging contacts, whereas in Scotland you don't really need to pay anything until the day of the sale - so it's goodbye to our savings in the next month!

Anyway – here are the details of the house:

The house is in a little village due south of Crewe, about five miles east of our current flat. It is well located for travel to both my work and the Bentley plant in crewe.

Although there is a main road and railway line near, these are separated by hills, so the noise and views are unaffected.

The house was constructed in teh 1920s, but has been well maintained and has had double glazing fitted, it’s chimney relined and has been modernised within to a very good standard, so hopefully there will be no surprises when the survey is done!
